It probably started about thirteen years ago, when I was pregnant with my eldest daughter, A. I wanted to make something just for her, something from my own hands. Dave — my husband — handed me a ball of wool and a crochet hook he’d bought with the idea of making himself a hat. I took them, sat down, and taught myself to crochet with YouTube tutorials and a couple of books.

Before long, I had made a simple blanket for A — one we still have today, now used as a doll blanket. From there, things snowballed in the best possible way. Over the years I learned to knit, then to sew, then to quilt and embroider. Eventually I added a loom, then an inkle loom, so I could weave my own fabrics and bands. And now I’m teaching myself how to make stationery and paper products.

I haven’t run out of crafts to learn yet, and I hope I never do.
